July 30, 2001 
  - GCR has completed the installation of
    equipment at the Verizon central office in Danville, VA. This equipment is
    connected to the GCR network via a DS3(45Mbps) connection. This will enhance
    our ability to provide services to the Danville area.
 
July 1, 2001 
  - GCR has completed the installation of
    underground fiber optic cable to Sprint's central office in South Boston,
    VA. The current connection is handled by a pair of Fujitsu OC-3 muxes. This
    configuration yields a total aggregate bandwidth of 155 Mbps. There are also
    unused strands of  fiber for future expansion. GCR will be moving the
    connections that are currently delivered via copper over to this new fiber
    network.
 
September 28, 2000 
  - 6:45 PM EST:  The network outage
    seems to have been resolved and users should have no problems viewing any
    websites.

  - 6:30 PM EST:  A network outage
    outside of our area is affecting the ability to view certain websites. 
    Users are still able to view certain websites, receive email and browse any
    sites hosted by GCR including our own.

March 27, 2000 
  - 3:45 PM EST:  The fiber cut has been repaired, and all Internet services are functioning normally.  
 
  - 11:48 AM EST:  MCI/WorldCom (UUNET) is
    experiencing a network outage in the Washington, D.C. area that is affecting
    Internet service all along the East Coast.  We have been informed that
    the outage is a result of a fiber cut in the Falls Church area near
    Washington D.C.  The cut occurred at 11:48 A.M., and repair crews have been
    dispatched; service should be restored soon.
 
March 20, 2000 
  - One of our authentication servers was not granting access to some accounts
    early Sunday morning.  We restored from backup, and performance is back
    to normal.  We apologize for the inconvenience.
 
March 12, 2000 
  - A brief glitch in one of our email servers was preventing some users from
    receiving their email in the early morning hours.  The matter has since
    been resolved.
 
March 10, 2000 
  - New phone lines have been installed thus resolving the "all circuits
    busy" message some users have been encountering during the evening
    hours.  
 
March 9, 2000 
  - 5:00 PM EST: GCR technicians replaced the Danville router and made
    some adjustments to the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) effectively restoring
    service to the Pittsylvania County area.  As always, we appreciate your
    patience in this matter and we thank you for choosing GCR
    Online.  
 
  - 2:30 PM EST: A circuit failure in Danville is preventing Pittsylvania County subscribers from connecting to the internet.  GCR
    technicians were in route to Danville by 3:00 PM to resolve the matter.
 
March 1, 2000 
  - Global email sent out to notify users of a new email virus called
    "Pretty Park."
 
January 19, 2000 
  - Additional lines have been installed to accommodate the influx of new
    users.  Thank you for choosing GCR Online.
 
January 17, 2000 
  - Bell Atlantic has repaired the major outage in the Washington D.C. area
    that affected many surrounding Internet service providers this
    morning.  All services are again functioning normally.  We
    apologize for the inconvenience.  
 
January 3, 2000 
  - We have experienced no problems due to "Y2K."  All of our
    systems are functioning normally.
 
  - Due to the overwhelming number of recent sign-ups, we have temporarily
    exhausted our phone line capacity.  Some users may experience an
    "all circuits busy" message when trying to dial up during peak
    hours.  We apologize for this temporary inconvenience.  New lines
    have been ordered and we are simply waiting on Sprint who have been slow to
    respond to our request to install them.
