To my worthy adversary, I wish to pose this:

How did it come that we expect EMPLOYERS to provide our health benefits, our retirement benefits, etc. It wasn't always that way, of course. It's okay if business wish to voluntarily offer such things to attract/reward/retain valuable employees --- but is it the government's role to make it MANDATORY?

Let me challenge you to think "outside the box" for a moment.

How about if our society turned to another institution to provide said benefits? For example, what if one's church had an insurance plan or medical plan or retirement plan, etc?

Let that sink in for a moment.

I see all sorts of wonderful advantages to this. However, before I share my thoughts, I'd like to hear yours.
