Another thought about this "class warfare" mentality that we should "stick it to the rich" ....
So often Democrats reply to a Republican initiative with some version of... "It benefits the rich!"
My reply... "So what?"
Would Democrats not vote for a bill designed to help inner city youth because it also helps rural youth?
Would Democrats not vote for a bill designed to help the aged because it also helps the youth?
Would Democrats not vote for a bill designed to help Latino's because it also helps blacks?
Would Democrats not vote for a bill designed to reduce crime up north because it also helps to reduce crime down south?
Of course not!
So why do they not want to vote for a bill designed to help the vast majority of Americans because it also helps the "rich"? It doesn't make sense.
I think the Repuglicans should take a new approach. The next time Dick Gephardt says something benefits the rich, the Repuglicans should say, "Yes, it does. So what? It also benefits 200 million other Americans, too."
