Dr. Laura is conservative... republican... mean... intolerant... rude... and... usually correct. About family values, that is. She's not a therapist, and she'll admit that readily. Her show is about moral values. She advocates sexual abstinence during a long period of dating before marriage. She abhors divorce (but the 3 A's will qualify it - addiction, abuse, and abandonment). And finally, she absolutely requires that kids have a PARENT as a primary caregiver in the home for the child. NO MATTER WHAT. Trade in the SUV, move to a more affordable home, give up the club membership, do whatever it takes. Just don't turn your kids over to strangers. I respect that about her. Now, I disagree with her on lots of other stuff - abortion, homosexuality, etc. But, once you commit to a spouse and child, for god's sake, follow through on it! Please go back and give her a listen. Look past her meanness for the message.
