I guess it boils down to the individual. My spouse and I were at a crossroads not too incredibly long ago. No matter how we sliced it, it made more sense for me (the husband) to stay home with our child. (My wife made more money, worked less hours than I, didn't have to commute out of town as I did, had better benefits, etc).
The other major factor was, quite frankly, I (again, the hubby) am the better parent. I know that sounds almost brutal, but it's brutally honest. I'm more nurturing, more consistant, more patient, more loving, - - - you name it).
So what happened? My wife refused to let me quit my job. She, too, refused to quit HERS. So the kid gets warehoused all day. Hey, it's not MY choice. But if I quit my job, she'll leave me, and my kid will then have a broken home. And the way the court system is, I, the father, would not get custody.
Any advice?
